So, you made it down to Cuba.  You took in the beautiful sun, the sand, the music, the friendly people.  Then there was the food.  For me when I was there, it was hit and miss (sadly more often a miss than a hit).  I thought that was the way Cuban food was to be – sadly missing a lot.  Imagine my surprise when I found this little gem of a Cuban restaurant along the Danforth.

Mambo Lounge is uniquely Cuban with so many menu options.  In fact, this is the food that I wish I could have had while I was visiting Cuba.  There is always wonderful live entertainment – from salsa dancers to a Cuban band.  Oh! Don’t forget to try the mojitos!  At Mambo – they make mojitos the way they are supposed to be  – with real Cuban rum.

Unlike the large impersonal restaurants, with their stiff and formal white table cloths, this smaller, family run establishment is warm and authentic.  While they have a traditional menu, I would recommend the tapas – the small bites – to get a true taste of really great Cuban food.

Be certain to make a reservation.  It is small space and fills up quickly.
